DIY: Homemade Doggie Biscuits Part I
Homemade organic doggie treats for the pups are all the rage right now! Our precious ones deserve only the best, and what better treats to give them than the ones you make (with a lot of love) right out of your own oven.
Many online food bloggers have started coming up with their own recipes for healthy dog biscuits that are super easy; some have even started a business out of it. Sydneysider Naomi Davis launched her dog treat business, Treats A La Bark, selling homemade organic dog biscuits with chic flavours like Raspberry & Carob Barkscotti (unfortunately she only ships within Australia for now.). For those with a bit more time on their hands, we have compiled a short list of interesting and paw-approved recipes that are worth a shot!
For Fruit based treats:
Homemade Peanut Butter Blueberry Dog Treats
Peanut butter is a great hit with our furry friends! It is also rich in protein, heart healthy fats and vitamins E and H, which will help keep your dog’s coat healthy and shiny. Always choose raw, unsalted peanut butter.
Blueberries have been proven to help control dogs' sugar levels and cardiovascular health. The fiber, manganese and vitamin K all improve heart function as well as lower stroke risk. The anti-oxidant properties also help them fight free radicals.

For Meat based treats:
Chicken & Cheddar Dog Biscuits
Any cheese, in this case cheddar, is a good source of calcium for dogs to develop stronger bones. Chicken is also a good source of lean protein for our furry friends. It is best to use cage-free chicken breast as a healthier option in this recipe.

For Vegie based treats:
Buckwheat Beet Bites
We came across this unique recipe using Red Beetroot as an ingredient for vegetarian dog biscuits. With plenty of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants present in Beetroots, this is a great recipe to try for healthy (and super pretty!) dog biscuit treats.
